What are the benefits of donating appreciated stocks?

Donating appreciated stocks that you have held for more than a year may provide benefits for your charity and for you, such as:

  • Disability Belongs can receive the full benefit of the appreciated stock's current market value.
  • You, as the donor, may be able to avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciation.
  • If you itemize deductions on your taxes, you may be able to write off the fair market value of the stock.
  • The donation may help push you over the itemization threshold.

How It Works

  1. Fill out the form below to start the donation process.
  2. Look for a call from Carnegie Investment Counsel, where an experienced financial advisor will walk you through the stock donation process.
